For this week's selfie assignment I tried to represent the basic concept of my midterm collage. The idea I want to convey is about the obstacles I face in presenting my ideal self to others, particularly in terms of gender identity. I identify as non-binary but no matter what I do, people see me as a girl. This makes it especially difficult to express myself in ways that people tend to consider feminine, for example wearing my hair long. The picture shows that even when I go out of my way to look androgynous by binding my chest or tell people about my identity, I still have a "she" labelling me everywhere I go.
