Week 3 (Home to me)

Home to me is a place I can go to and be at peace. This photo was taken at the (National Harbor) in Maryland. This has been my favorite place to come to since i was 12 years old. Every time I come here all my problems, stress and pain goes away.
My aunty introduce me to this place at the age of 12. If i had to pick any place for people to go to clear their mind I would most definitely recommend them to come here. Its a little beach with a nice colorful ferris wheel.
I consider the National Harbor my home and favorite place to go.

Week 4 (Idea for Midterm)

Here's my idea for my midterm. It's a basketball with an american flag in the back.

Self Portrait: God Family and Basketball

  1. what is the subject of your image?
    1. The subject of my image is a big american flag with my face, a basketball and a few words such as God, Ambitious, Family, Basketball.
  2. what is the content of your image?
    1. The content of my image is a few things that represents my story as a black man in america.
  3. why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
    1. I made these choices because i wanted to show my wins & loses in my life.
  4. what do you think this image conveys to the viewers?
    1. This image conveys to the viewers the good and bad in peoples personal life in america.
  5. what artists have influenced your self portrait?
    1. Jasper Johns influenced my self portrait.
  6. what techniques have you used to create your self portrait?
    1. I used acrylic paint to create this self portrait.
  7. why and how does this project represent you?
    1. This is a portrait is a representation of my life. In it is the American flag, my face, a basketball, and a few words that are important and make me who I am today. The American flag is on here to represent the country that I am proud to call my home. Living in America as a person of color I have the freedom to do many things that I would not have in other countries due to racism. My face is on it because without everything else in this portrait I would not be the same person I am today. I put a basketball on my portrait because playing basketball is something I love to do and always have even when I was younger. Basketball has been very important to me not only as something I love to do but as something that keeps me focused and in the right direction. I want to someday become a basketball coach to pass on my love and knowledge of the game to someone else. The words that I put on my portrait are basketball, ambitious, family, and God. These words all are very influential in my life. My family is very important to me. They are my motivation when I think about giving up. They are the reason why I push when things get hard. I put the word God because he comes before anything or anyone else. Without God nothing else is possible. The word ambitious is on my poster because I have worked hard for everything I have. Nothing was ever handed to me and once I set a goal I work to achieve it. Another reason ambitious is on my portrait because it was a nickname to someone very close to me. On May 27,2012 I lost a best friend who was like a big brother to me to gun violence. He was also an athlete. He played basketball and football. One thing he always said was “never settle”. We called him ambitious because he accepted any challenge that came his way. He never backed down from anything. Ambitious will always be a word I look at and think about how much one word has impacted my life so much.

Guy Looking

Guy Looking, 2018
I made this piece of art with myself as the subject matter. The content is myself with a red mask with green leaves and blue circles. The eyes are surreal and distorted.
Around me are words and a dark aura. The words represent all the words which critique and overwhelm us and the aura is barrier we build to try and block it. We make the mask to protect ourselves and try to show off a brighter or harder exterior when in reality we are unable to handle.
Frida Kahlo was a big influence. Her style of self portrait and sometimes surreal portrait was my main influence. I painted myself and then collaged the mask over the face plus the words.
The eyes will make the viewer focus on the mask and slowly draw them around to see the barrier and all the words around the character.

Mid Term

In this image, I wanted to represent two different subjects. First, it represents the destruction of nature due to money. Colombia is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world. But due to the desire of having more money, the ecosystems are being over-exploited and destroyed.
Second, I am representing myself. After coming to the US, I started feeling too much pressure from this culture about money. My goals were not based on money, even though money is necessary, it wasn’t my big purpose in life. But, here, I feel that money is trying to “catch me” and becoming my main goal.
In the image, I used a wave of dollars trying to cover nature.   The wave represents money and nature represent me and Colombia.
I wanted to do something similar to Frida’s self-portrait Along the Border Line Between Mexico and the United States, but I wanted to show that the two countries (in this case Colombia) are not completely separate and that the US has a big influence in Colombia.
I think this image transmit how due to money, nature is being destroyed.
For this image, I used the idea of a collage and used colored pencils.

Midterm Project

Two Sides inspired by Frida Kahlo

  1. what is the subject of your image?
    1. The subject of my image is just showing the two different countries I am from.
  2. what is the content of your image?
    1. The content of my image are just a few items that represent each country differently.
  3. why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
    1. At first, I had no clue how to represent myself in this project. I haven't really gone through many tragic things. So, I decided to show the different types of food and cultures from the countries on the poster.
  4. what do you think this image conveys to the viewers?
    1. This image conveys to the viewers the two different types of lives one can have.
  5. what artists have influenced your self portrait?
    1. Frida Kahlo's self portrait along the boarder line between Mexico and the United States influenced my self portrait. Even though they aren't too similar, one can see where I was coming from.
  6. what techniques have you used to create your self portrait?
    1. I used paint as well as different stickers to create this self portrait.
  7. why and how does this project represent you?
    1. This project represents me because these are the two countries I come from. Even though I live in the United States, I love going to Spain every summer. I basically have two lives.

Midterm Project

Subject of Image:
The subject of my image is a green chameleon that has specks of red and blue on it, which is supposed to symbolize myself.

Content of Image:
The image shows a chameleon made out of multiple triangles, sitting on a white branch. The background is black with different colors of glitter on it.

Choices that led to the composition:
Each color was chosen for a specific reason. They all can be found in one of the flags from the countries that I am from. The chameleon was chosen because I consider it to be my token or spirit animal.

Conveys to viewers:
The viewer might just see this as a piece about nature. I think that they would characterize this image about being about just a chameleon, and not look beneath the surface.

What artists that have influenced self portrait:
The artist that influenced my work was Frida Kahlo. Kahlo often struggled with her cultural identity, which is what this piece is supposed to symbolize.

Techniques used:
I used a combination of collage and acrylic paint for my self portrait. I painted a canvas that I had black and covered it was colorful glitter. I then traced a photo of a chameleon and then cut of triangular shapes to create its shape.

Representation:
The chameleon, is a self-portrait of myself. It is an animal that adapts to its environment and its surroundings. However, being of many backgrounds and cultures, this conflicts within my surroundings and an internal struggle of identity. By having the colors in the background clash and look a bit messy, it portrays the struggle that the chameleon (or I) faces by trying to blend into it.

Midterm

The subject of my image is myself among my perception of society, I'm walking among a world where everyone seems to have lost a piece of their humanity, people have become cold and dead towards one another due to selfishness and greed. My image portrays me within a group of ghouls, they're lifeless and they're practically indiscernible. I chose to create this composition due to social media and the news, it portrays people who seem to have no compassion, the world is cold due to human presence. I used various charcoals to create my image along with a blending stump and a kneaded eraser. I believe this project represents me because it depicts my perception of the current world around me and my attitude towards it, the image shows how my surroundings have made my impression of the world more dismal.

Different worlds

Different worlds inspired by Frida Khalo

• What is the subject of your image?
The subject of my image is just about what I've been through, where I am and where I am going. It's like the different phases of my life.
• What is the content of your image?
Well the content is basically some of the things that symbolize how I was feeling at each phase of my life.
• Why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
Well at first I was just going to have a collage of quotes and images that symbolized different parts of me but I realized that my experiences are what have led me to where I am today and felt it would be best to display them because they are an important part of me. My pursuit for a better education in this country caused my journey to begin. Despite my rough and painful past, I have been able to decide on my own to become a better and strong willed person. This is my self portrait on who I really am
• What do you think this image conveys to the viewers?
I feel that this image conveys to viewers that a girl is stuck between two worlds, one that looks happier and the other is depressing. Her head is a fist to convey strength. The dress or gown symbolizes the maturity she has gained within herself as she moves towards greener pastures.
My self portrait basically gives a glimpse of who I am and who I was plus who I am going to be. My past is something that I wouldn't want to remember but it has become a part of me. My aunt that I lived with transformed me to a different person that was depressed, angry, sad, lonely and negative. I never saw any good in life and felt trapped in my situation with no one to help or console me apart from my mother who was thousands of miles away from me. When I moved out, I transitioned into a person that decided to surround herself with positive energy and become mature with a strong mind all on my own. I became strong because I was able to survive my past and keep going forward with the strength I had gained to overcome my darkness. I am now treading on a greener path that is going to blossom soon with prosperity, peace joy, and love. The sun symbolizes my great and bright future that awaits me. Frida Khalo inspired me through one of her pieces where she was in the middle of two worlds with one looking gloomier than the other.

Midterm Project Wk_5

• What is the subject of your image?
The subject of my images is me, and only myself because I have found out through trail and error that to be the best person you can possibly be you have to discover your self first. I realized you have to find out who you are before you can help and deal with others this takes time and multiple different experiences but eventually it will happen.
• What is the content of your image?
The content of my image is pictures of me created and cut in such a way that it is an optical illusion.
• why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
I really wanted to make something different and that would stand out and I am a beginner at that isn’t very good at painting or drawing so I decided to take more of an arts and crafts direction and take that with the kind of art the amazes me the most illusions. Due to the fact I love being in a state of shock.
• What do you think this image conveys to the viewers?
People may view this and think I have am very bipolar because I have many feeling all at once but that isn’t the message I want to give off.
• What artists have influenced your self portrait?
I really didn’t have any artists that inspired me because I originally thought of the idea on my own of how I can get all the face into one project then I decided that I could space them out and decided to face them in a perpendicular formation to create the artwork.
• What techniques have you used to create your self portrait?
The only technique I used the optical illusion technique to create the separate 4 face but the ability to see all of them at the different times and the perfect angle.
• Why and how does this project represent you?

This project represents me because when I initially meet people I don’t really show them all side of me or give them a glimpse into my emotions because it was how I was raised to be a tough guy and boys don’t get sad or men don’t cry. Obviously this is not true because in times of serious trouble or immense pain I will shed a tear because I am human and I will be sad once a while if I am having a rough day but society has built us to not show this on our sleeves and not show everyone how we are feeling because we are men and we have to be strong. Also I created them at the angle because when you first meet me it is similar to looking at my project head on I don’t show you any of the emotions but once you get to know me and I’m comfortable with you will see more and more different parts of me then others. Also I realized that I left the project hollow that’s its not filled and I found that it could represent how I feel inside when I am not sure what to do if I don’t have someone there to show how I’m feeling or be able to speak with because I guys for guys its different I really don’t just cry to anyone about my problems because I can be judged or will be criticized.

Through the Instagram Lens

The title of my piece is Through the Instagram Lens. The subject of my piece is validation. I portray this subject through about 25 screenshotted images from my Instagram account, a manipulated photo of my vanity, and an image of me sitting on my chair. I decided to make a piece that shows how encapsulating Instagram has been in my life. The piece I made is of a wall in my room. The screenshotted images are scattered all over the background of my canvas, which is taking up the wall of my room. The background is set up like a collage. I chose my personal Instagram photos because these are the images I look at all the time. I go on my phone every morning and it’s basically as if I would be looking around my room. I manipulated a picture of my vanity and photoshopped a screenshot of the screen that comes up when navigating to take a picture of yourself on Instagram into the mirror. I also pasted in a photo of myself sitting on my chair looking at the manipulated vanity mirror. The vanity idea means that I do not see my actual reflection when I’m looking in my mirror. I only see or want to see the type of reflection that I would deem “Instagram” worthy. The composition of Hannah Höch’s Für ein Fest gemacht (Made for a Party) 1936 influenced my piece. The large cutout of the woman’s head made me think to make the vanity a bigger size than myself. The difference in size emphasizes that the reflection takes up the perception I have of myself. The book we are reading entitled The Art of Self Invention by Joanne Finkelstein has also influenced the subject of my piece. The book talks about image and identity in popular visual culture and it led me to think about my identity and the influence culture has on it. This project greatly represents me because I have become dependent on the image I want to show to the world and the feedback I get from my Instagram followers. This can be because many people try to look like an enhanced version of themselves on Instagram and then it begins to become their actual life. You cannot let the identity you have on social media become your real identity (reflection) because it will take up your world.

Midterm Project

• What is the subject of your image?

The subject of my image is what I feel most represents me and who I am, a feminist woman of color.

• What is the content of your image?

The content of my image is all of the controversies surrounding the feminist movement and what we fight for.

• Why did you make the choices that led to the composition?

I wanted this piece to express who I am without me actually being in it. Having a subtle abstract painting as the background on a canvas was essential for me because abstract painting is my passion.

I attached a tiny canvas to my painting that says “Votes For Women” and not only did I feel like this brought my whole piece together, but I felt it was important for me to include this because that sign was used in a protest for women’s right to vote during the women’s suffrage movement. The part that my eyes are drawn to within this collage is the body of the woman that I painted with a black flower as the nipple, I decided to do this to represent how women’s bodies are shamed. Lastly, similar to Barbara Kruger, I made the decision to put the “revolution” along with the definition. I believe that including that word made my piece more noticeably political which I felt was important. On the back, I glued a the poem “Phenomenal Woman” by Maya Angelou because she is one of my favorite poets.

• What do you think this image conveys to the viewers?

I believe people will view my collage and sense that I identify as a feminist woman and that I feel strongly about it.

However, I do feel that the image could be controversial if there are viewers who do not identify as feminists.

The colors that I chose may make the piece as a whole easy on the eyes therefore, making it easy for viewers to really take in what my collage represents.

• What artists have influenced your self portrait?

The artist that influenced my self portrait is Barbara Kruger.

• What techniques have you used to create your self portrait?

I used acrylic paint, watercolor markers, charcoal on paper, and paper flowers.

• Why and how does this project represent you?

This project represents my beliefs which helped shape who I am today.

Week 5: Midterm

Faith Over Fear

What is the subject of your image?
The subject of my image is the diagnoses I have been going through since I was a young girl, depression, and when I was 18 and became a Christian the constant battle of "faith over fear".

What is the content of your image?
My image contains a collage of different Biblical passages that I had taken out and photos of things in my life that sustain me and to help me grow as a woman in society. The surrounding elements is a painting done with acrylic paint.

Why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
Originally I was going to create a strictly photographic collage, but as I was thinking on what to do for this project, I kept seeing painted hand prints sliding down a canvas and fire. So I decided to combine the two in order to create this piece.

What do you think this image conveys to the views?
Pain is pain, and it can happen to anyone, from the richest and outwardly happiest person in the world, to the poorest and outwardly saddest person in the world.

What artists have influenced your self portrait?
One was an artist in the sense they created paintings, and one was an artist in the sense they created music. Frida Khalo has always been my inspiration in the drawings I sketch and the sculptors I create. Her sense of self very much reflected my sense of self before I started going to church and how I saw myself because of my circumstance. How she externalized herself onto a canvas without words, but with images, was intriguing and captivating. And the music group that inspired my was Flyleaf. The lead singer of Flyleaf had a similar background to my childhood, and creates her music videos to reflect faith over fear. She inspired the top portion of this creation.

What techniques have you used to create create your self portrait?
I started out by using my acrylic paint to create the image, and then I gathered some Biblical clippings from my favorite passages and some photos from my life that keep everything into perspective and gives me faith.

Why and how does this project represent you?
This project represents me because all my life I have been constantly looking out for myself and taking care of myself. Once I was about to turn 10 I started showing symptoms of a severely depressed individual, and by the age of 14 I was officially diagnosed. The bottom portion represents the pain of having to deal with something so life consuming at such a young age. The top portion shows the faith over mental illness aspect I was trying to convey. I covered it in Biblical texts, because those passages where some of the first passages I read when coming to understand God for myself and develop my relationship with Him. It gave me hope and sustains me the most in my faith. The photos surrounding it shows the things and people in my life that also help sustain my faith and have helped me find who I am and what I was meant to be in this life.

Midterm Project - "Nat vs. Rose"

Nat vs. Rose, 2018

Subject of image:
The subject of this image is me how I want to be and what I believe is preventing me from being that way, particularly in terms of gender identity and expression.

Content of image:
The image shows a painting of myself the way I most want to look and feel, surrounded by roses, which I have a complicated relationship with and signify different aspects of myself, as well as symbolize the environment that I feel is unhelpful to my identity.

Why did I make the choices that led to my composition:
I chose to mix the media of collage and painting in order to bring out a contrast between the two parts of the image. I was originally going to draw and cut out roses as well as cut out photographs, but decided to use only photographs because they would contrast better with the painting. In addition, I chose to paint myself rather than draw or collage because acrylic paint is bold, opaque, and layerable, which allowed me to create an image that stands out against the background and correct my mistakes easily.

What image conveys to viewers:
The viewer probably does not see the conflict between myself and the roses, since I did not create much conflict, disturbance, or negative imagery. However, I did not mean for it to appear as a conflict so much as a relationship in which we are always in close proximity, which I think I successfully conveyed by keeping the images directly on top of each other and even overlapping them.

What artists have influenced this portrait:
I did not have a particular artist in mind when I started this piece, but as I worked on it I let one of Wangechi Mutu’s ideas influence a certain aspect of it. I had not originally intended to surround myself entirely in roses, and wanted to include a variety of symbols. However, I realized that the roses could be used to symbolize everything I wanted to convey. This is similar to how Mutu uses birds in her animation “The End of Eating Everything”. The only thing she shows being eaten are birds, thus the birds symbolize everything, and can be interpreted to symbolize many more specific concepts.

Techniques used:
I used a combination of collage and painting to create this self portrait. I started by gathering pictures of roses and gluing them to my cardboard base to form the background of the piece. I had originally traced an outline of my head and torso on to the cardboard to provide a rough guideline for where I would paint myself, and glued roses up to the edge of this outline. I then used acrylic paint to fill in the outline and add details such as hair, a shirt, and facial features.

Why and how it represents me:
The painting of myself shows the way I wish to appear and feel. I drew myself with longer hair, which I prefer, and a shirt that shows the style of clothing I like to wear. I made my features appear a bit stronger and more masculine, as I wish they did, because I am nonbinary and don't identity as a man or a woman, but people constantly judge me for looking feminine. I made myself smiling to show the happiness and confidence I hope to have. The roses in the background represent several factors that I feel prevent my ideal presentation to the world. Flowers are a traditionally feminine symbol. They are interpreted by many, like most plant life, to represent the reproductive system and fertility. Because of this, they represent the female biology I was born with that often causes me to be misjudged. Flowers are also often gendered as “girly” although flowers don't have a gender. This expresses the things I like that I am afraid to admit I like because people think they are “girly”. Flowers are one of these things. Wearing my hair long is another. I chose roses specifically because my middle name is Rose, and this is the source of mixed feelings for me. On one hand, I dislike this middle name because it is only used as a girl’s name and contributes to my being judged as feminine. On the other hand, I like roses and from a non-gender-influenced standpoint I like my middle name.

Midterm Project

Midterm Project
Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette -Vincent Van Gogh

• What is the subject of your image?
The subject of my image is myself in two instances; one of my outward appearance and one of myself trying to escape.

• What is the content of your image?
The content of my project is representing my social anxiety. There are two head silhouettes where one is reflecting how I would act and feel in social settings. The other head is showing the coping mechanisms I would use to escape and relieve stress of social anxiety by drinking or smoking. The monster of smiling heads is just an exaggeration of how I would feel like everyone is always watching me and pressuring me, thus the monster-like figure.

• Why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
I wanted to have two aspects of my social anxiety; one was reflecting my demeanor and the other of what people wouldn’t normally see. I liked the idea that the other aspect of myself was upside down acting sort of like an alter-ego. I initially didn’t make a “smiling monster” but instead had floating smiling heads around the head silhouette. It didn’t interest me and somehow I came up with that monster and was way more satisfied.

• What do you think this image conveys to the viewers?
I think I did a good job in portraying what I wanted viewers to see. I think what would stand out the most is the monster-like figure made of smiling heads. That monster is bearing over my head silhouette and water drops around my head representing sweat would show how it makes me nervous, anxious, or scared even. The head with the skull with a cigarette and drink would probably be harder to tie into the whole picture since it represents my way of dealing with that pressure/stress.

• What artists have influenced your self portrait?
I was influenced by Vincent Van Gogh which is why I included the reference to his “Skull of a Skeleton with Burning Cigarette”. I found out that Van Gogh also had reports of mental illnesses including anxiety which I thought was ironic since I used his painting without realizing that first.

• What techniques have you used to create your self portrait?
I like using newspaper because of the style and coloring of it, not to mention that I have an abundance of it just lying around. The cigarette in my collage was actually burnt on one end to give a more realistic look. Card board backing was used on both head silhouettes to give it a more aesthetic appeal and attention but I think the monster would get more attention which is okay with me.

• Why and how does this project represent you?
This project literally represented me in a portion of my life, mainly high during high school. I’ve had bad social anxiety back then and the only way I knew how to cope with them was to drink to escape reality or smoke to calm me down. I’ve long since stopped habits like that but it’ll always be something for me to look back and reflect on and laugh for how absurd I acted.

Week 5: Midterm Project

Not My President/Fuck Donald Trump 2018

What is the subject of your image?
The subject of my image is myself and how I’m being bombarded by Trump and all his mistakes in office and his hatred racists remarks. Symbolizing his corruption in our government.

What is the content of your image?
The content of my image is anti-Trump and all of his shenanigans.

Why did you make the choices that led to the composition?
I wanted to do an anti-Trump piece because Trump represents corruption in our government.

What do you think this image conveys to the viewers?
Based off of my expression, I tried to convey how Americans are pretty much fed up of Trump and his regime, and how his statements and actions are no longer have any shock value to me anymore.

What artists have influenced your self portrait?
The overall inspiration of this collage comes from Kurt Schwitters collage. I am inspired by the overall meaning and symbolizing behind his collages not the overall content. I wanted to create something that everybody can relate to and something political as well.

What techniques have you used to create your self portrait?
In the collage, I used several of Trump’s most offensive tweets, headlines from news articles, some political cartoons, and some digital drawings. For the self portrait, I used an image of myself looking uninterested, annoyed, and bothered. The goal was for me to look over the situation. I was also able to create a digital drawing  of Donald Trump as well. I also cut out some images from magazines that I thought I could incorporate for my collage.

Why and how does this project represent you?
In my collage, I represent the typical American. At this point, I am very tired and over Trump. I feel that my collage represents how feed up everybody is.

Week 5 Midterm Project

The subject of this image reflects the movement of women empowerment and the vibrancy that these feminist artists make in the world. My piece is a combination of a self-portrait, lively colors, and feminist symbols. The content of my image is focused to project rage, gender inequality, and social issues women face on a daily basis. Creating a self-portrait should be more than just features, hair, and the regular face projected to the world. Society may perceive me as a young, Latina, and light skinned woman, but I am much more than just skin color, ethnicity, or my age. Behind outside features are ideas, curiosity, beliefs, and perceptions of the world that not many can relate too. Everyone observes the world differently, through this project the public will not only look at me, but also at how the world looks through my consciousness. This image should convey to viewers the feeling of being trapped in a patriarchal society, a fight for inclusion, and the desire for a world of serenity without chaos.
Although, this piece will be loud, it will also express the beauty of a silent world without prejudice, racism, and separation. The inspiration for my self-portrait has been mostly influenced by Freida Khalo, The Guerilla Girls, and Annegret Soltau who have amazing pieces that express a significant amount of meaning. Their creative use of images, photography, painting, and collages of their work is what assisted me in the creative production of my piece. Techniques and tools used to construct this image consist of, paint brushes, acrylic paint, a pen, newspaper articles, a sponge and glue. The pieces and colors combined were used to create the significant representation of the painting.
The background of my portrait consists of mountains to symbolize a long journey, climbing to higher levels, and the obstacles that woman must overcome in society. The sunset is a representation of a day coming to an end as a new day is beginning, because every day is a new opportunity to push forward or start over. The water and grass are the most peaceful, tranquil, and serene aspect of this piece, their purpose is to alleviate all of the troubles and issues faced. The outline of the person is myself, filled with cut out words and phrases from magazines focused on women issues, social problems, and motivational words as well. This peace is for all of society to interpret and not just for woman. Planning a self-portrait that includes a combination of images, social justice issues, and my personal approach on understanding the world is a challenge.
Through the use of a canvas, magazine images, paint, brushes, and best artistic skills which are not very advanced, my self-portrait came to life. This project is a representation of my personal female perspective on social justice issues, and also portrays the peace and tranquility my mind desires from the world. There are many difficulties, obstacles, discrimination, and social injustice in the world. Society separates, targets, and attacks many groups of people, but that does not justify the actions of the way people behave towards others. These particular problems I wish to address through my art piece may never be resolved, but every small act of resistance against them contributes towards the cause.

week 4

Image result for feminist collage

I will be basing my collage off of feminism. Being a feminist makes up a huge part of who I am and as a woman of color who is in a relationship with a woman of color I think it would be great for me to use this opportunity to express not only our struggles in society and its standards but to shed light on the inequalities others face within the LGBTQ+ community and being of color.

Week 4 [Midterm Idea]

My idea for the midterm was to do a self portrait among a sea of ghouls in front of corrupted government and corporate buildings, to depict the idea of the modern world. We live in a society where people are practically mindless fiends who are incapable of realizing how people in power are taking advantage of those below, and we squabble among one another practically for their entertainment.
