I consider my culture as home; growing up in a proud Latino family, your culture is a big representation of who you are and where you come from. My mother, who is Dominican and father who is a proud Puerto Rican enforce these values on me and my sister. Growing up I really wasn’t accepted on either family. When I’m with my mother’s family, I’m not Dominican enough and when I’m with my father’s side of the family, I’m not Puerto Rican enough. For me, being half of something does not make me less of a person, but being a part of both cultures makes a whole person. I’m very proud of being apart of these two cultures.
